Hello fellow readers!
I’m a 20-something bookworm and university student from Finland. I major in English Translation which has led me to read books mostly in English, but I do my best to read books also in Finnish as well as in other languages. I’ve always been a reader, and back in middle school I used to visit the local library almost weekly. At the start of my university studies I read next to nothing, but I got back on the book wagon in spring 2013 and I’ve been hanging on ever since. In order to keep up the hobby, I started blogging about my reading in August 2013. In October 2013, my blog moved to WordPress.
I love stories. I enjoy reading many genres, but classics are especially close to my heart. Some of my favourite classics include North and South, Animal Farm, Little Dorrit, Watership Down, The Picture of Dorian Gray and Persuasion.
Aside from reading, I love music (jazz, movie soundtracks, rock, pop, rap – you name it), dancing, and playing piano as well as alto saxophone. Despite my love of music I prefer to read in silence, with a hot cup of tea by my side. I’m also a bit of a language geek. I speak 4 languages: Finnish, English, Swedish and German; and I try to read at least one book in each language every year.
Everywhere I have sought peace and not found it, except in a corner with a book.
― Thomas à Kempis, tr. Umberto Eco

Hi there – just following up on our exchange on my blog about you writing a guest post about literature in Finland. Whats the best way to contact you with the questions?
Hi Karen! I think the most convenient way would be if you were to send them to me via email (bookkarino [at] gmail.com). I look forward to hearing from you!
